Galvanised steel with bolt-on or weld-on brackets: hard-wearing, quiet and built to last 20 years with no unscheduled maintenance.
When you install quality sliding gate automation such as FAAC, the last mistake you want to make is cutting corners on the rack. This is not a simple toothed metal strip but the critical component that converts the motor's rotation into smooth gate movement. A cheap rack in non-galvanised steel or low-cost nylon means irritating noise within a few months, premature wear of the motor pinion, vibration that damages the whole system, and forced replacement after 3-5 years instead of 20.
Why the FAAC galvanised rack is unlike any other sliding gate rack
The FAAC galvanised rack 30x12 and 30x8, module 4 (available with bolt-on or weld-on brackets) delivers three concrete benefits you will notice every day for the next 20 years:
Sea air and salt spray (coastal properties along the Sicilian shoreline)
Acidic volcanic ash (areas exposed to Mount Etna)
Extreme temperature swings from -20°C to +55°C
Driving rain, snow and frost with no oxidation
Zero wear on the motor pinion: savings of up to €350 every 5 years
The module 4 with FAAC-certified dimensional accuracy ensures every tooth of the rack meshes perfectly with the gear motor pinion, spreading the load evenly across all the teeth engaged at any moment. The result? The motor pinion lasts three to four times longer. With cheap racks and their poor dimensional tolerances, the pinion wears out in 3-5 years and has to be replaced (parts plus labour: €250-350). With the genuine FAAC rack, the pinion lasts 15-20 years.
Module 4: the universal standard for total compatibility
The module 4 (12.56 mm tooth pitch) is the standard used by every leading manufacturer of sliding gate motors: FAAC, CAME, BFT, NICE, BENINCÀ, APRIMATIC, FADINI. This means the FAAC module 4 rack is compatible with any gear motor on the market, including other brands.
Why module 4 is superior:
Greater precision compared with larger modules (module 5-6)
Less noise thanks to smaller, more closely spaced teeth
Greater efficiency of power transmission
Universal compatibility with every Z12, Z14, Z16, Z20 and Z28 pinion
If you have an older gear motor from a brand other than FAAC and want to replace a worn rack, the FAAC module 4 rack works perfectly.
Four versions for four installation scenarios: choose the perfect combination
The FAAC rack is not a single product. There are two sections (30x12 and 30x8) and two bracket types (bolt-on and weld-on), giving four combinations designed around gate weight, installation type and the installer's preferences:
- 30x12 mm SECTION - HEAVY DUTY (gates up to 2,200 kg)
30x12 mm rack with bolt-on brackets (code 490124)
The heavy-duty version with quick, weld-free installation, ideal for industrial gates where a fast job is essential:
Section: 30 mm wide x 12 mm high
Weight: 2.5 kg per metre (extreme robustness)
Module: 4 (12.56 mm tooth pitch)
Material: Electro-galvanised C45 carbon steel
Galvanising thickness: 15-20 microns
Max. gate weight: 2,200 kg
Bracket type: Bolt-on fixing with M8 bolts
Brackets included: 3 galvanised metal brackets per metre + M8 bolts
Advantages of bolt-on brackets:
✓ Installation three times faster (15 minutes for 4 metres vs. 45 minutes with welding)
✓ No welder required
✓ Zero distortion of the gate (no heat involved)
✓ Millimetre adjustment after installation
✓ Easy replacement (unbolt and replace in 10 minutes)
✓ Universal compatibility (iron, aluminium, stainless steel, reinforced timber)
Ideal for: Industrial gates, large apartment blocks, rapid installations, aluminium gates (no welding, to avoid distortion)
30x12 mm rack with weld-on brackets (code 490122)
The heavy-duty version with permanent welded brackets, ideal for industrial gates where maximum robustness is required:
Section: 30 mm wide x 12 mm high
Weight: 2.5 kg per metre
Module: 4 (12.56 mm tooth pitch)
Material: Electro-galvanised C45 carbon steel
Galvanising thickness: 15-20 microns
Max. gate weight: 2,200 kg
Bracket type: Galvanised steel weld-on brackets
Brackets included: 4 galvanised metal brackets per metre, for welding
Advantages of weld-on brackets:
✓ Permanent, final fixing (no risk of bolts working loose)
✓ Maximum resistance to vibration and stress
✓ Clean appearance with no visible bolts
✓ Guaranteed service life with no need for periodic bolt-tightening checks
✓ Ideal for gates under extremely heavy traffic (200+ cycles/day)
Ideal for: Heavy industrial iron gates, businesses with continuous traffic, permanent final installations, structures requiring maximum robustness
- 30x8 mm SECTION - STANDARD (gates up to 800 kg)
30x8 mm rack with bolt-on brackets (code 490125)
The version optimised for residential gates, with quick and simple installation:
Section: 30 mm wide x 8 mm high
Weight: 1.8 kg per metre (-28% compared with the 30x12)
Module: 4 (12.56 mm tooth pitch)
Material: Electro-galvanised C45 carbon steel
Galvanising thickness: 15-20 microns
Max. gate weight: 800 kg
Bracket type: Bolt-on fixing with M6 bolts
Brackets included: 3 galvanised metal brackets per metre + M6 bolts
Advantages of bolt-on brackets:
✓ Simplified installation for technicians without welding expertise
✓ Ideal for residential aluminium gates (no heat distortion)
✓ Easier adjustment during installation
✓ Quick replacement in the event of accidental damage
Ideal for: Private houses, small apartment blocks, residential gates of 300-800 kg, installers without welding expertise
30x8 mm rack with weld-on brackets (code 490123)
The standard version with permanent fixing for maximum reliability:
Section: 30 mm wide x 8 mm high
Weight: 1.8 kg per metre
Module: 4 (12.56 mm tooth pitch)
Material: Electro-galvanised C45 carbon steel
Galvanising thickness: 15-20 microns
Max. gate weight: 800 kg
Bracket type: Galvanised steel weld-on brackets
Brackets included: 4 galvanised metal brackets per metre, for welding
Advantages of weld-on brackets:
✓ Permanent, final fixing (zero bracket maintenance)
✓ Clean, professional appearance
✓ Ideal for traditional wrought iron gates
Ideal for: Residential iron gates, final installations, a preference for traditional permanent fixing.
