Why the FAAC C720 is unlike any other sliding gate operator

The patented technology with moving-axis gearbox of the FAAC C720 delivers three concrete benefits you will notice every day:

    Thanks to its two rotors offset by 180°, which make the gearbox perfectly symmetrical and balanced, the FAAC C720 completely eliminates mechanical vibration. Your gate opens with the discretion of a German limousine, with no irritating noise, without waking the neighbours or disturbing the family. Even after 10 years, the movement remains exactly as quiet as it was on day one.
  • Exceptional energy efficiency: consumption cut by 50%
    With a mechanical efficiency above 80% (compared with the 50-55% of traditional gear motors), the FAAC C720 converts electrical energy into movement with minimal losses. An apartment block with 50 openings a day saves roughly €120-150 a year on the running costs of the gate by switching from a traditional motor to the FAAC C720. This means:

FAAC's patented gearbox principle: a revolution in gear motors

The FAAC C720 does not use a traditional worm-screw gearbox (inefficient and noisy). It uses a patented moving-axis system with two rotors offset by 180° which offers technical advantages that cannot be replicated:

  1. Exceptionally high mechanical efficiency: >80%
    Every watt of electrical energy is converted into actual movement with minimal losses. Traditional gear motors waste 45-50% of that energy as heat and friction. The FAAC C720 wastes only 15-20%.
  2. Complete reduction of vibration and noise
    The two rotors offset by 180° create a perfectly symmetrical, balanced system. The result? Zero vibration, zero noise and movement as smooth as an industrial hydraulic system.
  3. Extreme robustness: many pairs of teeth meshed simultaneously
    Unlike traditional gearboxes where 2-3 teeth carry the entire load (causing rapid wear), in FAAC's patented system the many pairs of teeth are meshed simultaneously, spreading the load across multiple points. The result? Components that last three to four times longer.
  4. High speed: up to 18 m/min
    Thanks to its superior efficiency, the FAAC C720 reaches speeds of 18 metres per minute (0.3 m/s), opening a 5-metre gate in just 16-18 seconds (compared with the 25-30 seconds of standard motors).
